Hear My Song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik94kDHJFGA
Child, I know you're weary
And your eyes want to close
The days are getting longer
We're not getting any stronger
Trust me,Mama knows

But lie in my arms while you're sleeping
And think of the rivers you've crossed
I'll tell you the dreams I've been keeping
For moments like this
When your hope is lost

Hear my song
It'll help you believe in tomorrow
Hear my song
It'll show you the way you can shine
Hear my song
It was made for the time When you don't know where to go
Listen to the song that I sing
You'll be fine Child,

I know you're frightened
And your throat's parched and dry
But just trust in Mama's singing
And the gift tomorrow's bringing
Trust it, don't ask why

Just lie in my arms And I'll tell you
The things that you know but forget
The lies no one ever could sell you
I know that it's hard
But don't give up get

Hear my song
It'll help you believe in tomorrow
Hear my song
It'll show you the way you can shine
Hear my song
It was made for the times When you don't know where to go
Listen to the song that I sing
You'll be fine

‘Cause I'll be singing —
Hold on
Hold tight
I know it's dark right now
But just believe somehow
That soon there will be light
Hold on
Hold fast
That's not enough for some
But trust the light will come
And we'll get past
You and Mama Safe at last

Hear my song
It'll help us get through til tomorrow
Hear my song
It'll help us survive all the pain
Hear my song
It's the one thing I have
That has never let you down
Listen to the song that I sing
Listen to the words in my heart
Listen to the hope I can bring
And you'll start to grow And shine
Listen to the song that I sing
And trust me
We'll be fine
Above is a clip from "Songs of a New World". The song, "Hear My Song" was A Capella's theme song this year and has really meant a lot to me.(Lyrics are also above) Our version was quite a bit different but the words to the song are what matter the most to me! It has a lot to do with this school year I have had (which is almost over-yay!)
We just finished "Spring Sing". It was absolutely amazing! I had a lot of fun with it! I grew to appreciate music more than I ever have before. I really think its all apart of being in A Capella choir, which has been a great experience. I truly look forward to being here again next year. I guess its probably good that I love music so much since I am going to be a music major(: Anyway-this song we sang, there's a couple lines that hit me real hard. "Hear My Song-It was made for the times when you don't know where to go....Hear My Song-It's the one thing I have that has never let me down." Its so true. Music is what keeps me going more than anything. Besides the Gospel of course(: But as far as school and the world around me, music is what I would call my happy place. If life just feels like heck sometimes-I can go to choir, put in my favorite cd, or even turn on the radio and there I have it-my music! The one thing I have that COULD NEVER let me down. Music to me is like having the church. When I don't know where else to go-I can turn to the scriptures, my Heavenly Father, and my music. Its the best feeling in the world! I can't be more thrilled to have the talent of singing. I am truly blessed to have that opportunity throughout my life to sing and feel the spirit of singing.
This is MY song. And I know that I'll be Fine.

The rest of Spring Sing was awesome! I had a wonderful time. We did some great broadway songs as well as some stuff from the past several months. I know my mom, Grandma Kay,and Nana enjoyed it alot! I'm glad I could make some great memories with my music! Have a great day!

TRADITION, Counting Down, Preperations

Hello All!
Finally, I was able to get some professional pics of Fiddler on the Roof that they had taken during our final dress rehearsal. So here they are! The First is our director/lead Dr. Crae Wilson singing his famous, "If I were a Rich Man". He did so incredible! The next is the Prologue and opener, "Tradition".

Below: The Bottle Dancers! They
did really well! However, it was
their most stressful part of the play(:
This is the famous "Dream Scene". Take a look at our scary Fruma Sarah! She was awesome and we all had a lot of fun doing this scene(:

"The Rumor". This is the scene that takes place after the wedding and rumors fly like crazy about Tevya's family. Here I am gossiping with a friend(:
Ah the memories!
This week was good. I am so excited that everyday is going by so fast! I'm getting more and more excited to move to the valley. It will be a good experience to meet some new people and hang out down there for a change. Friday night we had our institute closing social "Spring Fling". It was a lot of fun! Infact-it was amazing! They had food, a short talent show, and a dance. I danced the night away with the girls mostly(: *And checked out the cute boys of course*(: After that, we had a few friends come over for Heathers friends birthday. We had a cake for him and everyone (except me) watched The Ring. I simply don't do scary movies. Ever. I used to watch them sometimes but I still get too scared so I wont do it! So I snuck into my room and watched more Gilmore Girls, which I finished the seasons btw!
Saturday was a lazy day. Sleeping in, studying, and EAC's Dance Show.
Now I'm enjoying a beautiful, yet somewhat windy, Sunday!
Tomorrow I really start a countdown of when school gets out. I'm not sure I can wait 2 more weeks! Ok. I can. I also have my Spring Sing Concerts on Thurs-Sat for Accapella Choir. I'm very excited about it! We are singing several broadway songs, along with a few others. My grandma and great-grandma are coming on Thursday and my mom is coming Friday so that will be awesome to see them! Well I'm off to conquer the world....yet again.
Have a great week everyone!

What happens when Rachelle cooks?!?!

What happens when you put fish sticks in the microwave and put the timer on 20 minutes?

I know what you're thinking....its funny and i'm a blonde! Yeah. It will be one to tell for years though! Sorry the pictures were from my phone and a little blurry but they are what they are! So the story:

I figured hey-I only have 3 fishsticks left and so I'll just put them in the microwave, (even though there were specifically NO directions for cooking them in the microwave, but honestly-you all should know that I don't read directions for anything most of the time :p). Well-when you cook them in the oven, you do it for 15 or 20 minutes. I ASSUMED it was the same for the microwave. So I put them in and set the timer on it for 20 min and walked away. Infact, I walked into my room and closed the door. Thank goodness 2 of my roommates were in the kitchen. While in my room, oblivious to anything going on outside my room, I suddenly hear Hannah yelling, "Rachelle! Get out here right now!" Oh boy. I walk out of my room, and into an apartment filled with smoke. The microwave was open and so I took a look, while coughing my way through the smoke. Lo and behold-there was my plate of burnt fishsticks and they were black! Not only that, as shown in the pictures, there were holes melted into the plastic plate that the fishsticks were on. Windows and the front door remained open for the rest of the day. We needed to get the smell out so we could allow the dinner company we had coming over that evening(: What an adventure right?! Of course about half the neigbors know now thanks to my roommates. We even had some come over wondering what the smell was........oh dear. The adventures of Rachelle in the kitchen-could be a novel. Ha ha jk! I really am not that bad of a cook-it just so happens that I have issues once in a while. The good news of Saturday, was that I am finally conquering pancakes! Yay! Anyway-it was a must share story on my part. Have a great week everyone!

Theatre is Life, Film is Art, Television is Furniture

My top quote is true. However, Theatre is not my life technically-more like a hobby! However, I have my life back. The theatre stole it there for a while(: I'm loving my free time! However, it has of course been filled with more stuff but its nice to have a change of pace, be back on a normal schedule, (except the sleeping part of normal). HOWEVER-I only have to do it for about 3 more weeks-ish! Yay! This year is finally almost over and I am certainly ready for it to be! Since I dropped my math class, I only have my Biology final to worry about. That will be tough, but I'm working hard to get at least a B in the class. I will also have a drama final but that should be easy because I already have an A in the class. I'm excited to move to the valley and take somewhat of a break this summer! The play was really a fun experience. I made some new friends and thorougly enjoyed working with Dr. Crae Wilson, one of our directors. He is so amazing! Unfortunantly, he is leaving EAC in a few weeks to move on to bigger and better things. He set up the EAC drama department about 30 years ago-he is truly one amazing man! He will be missed! I sure hope we have just as good of a director next year. I am definantly planning on doing another musical!
Now that my life is back to normal, I have lots to keep me occupied. Still looking for a job in the valley and what not! Anywho-there is my weekly update! I'll try to post some more pictures when I get a chance!
Have a great week everyone!
